I haven’t been drawing or updating SuperSweet as much as I should but I’m hard at work on prizes for two (2) winners of the Corgi Funny Face Photo Contest! I also am working on small prizes for the runners-up!
If you have a funny picture of your Corgi to submit, submit it to either this tumblr or my main tumblr, alyssaerin, before February 1st!
I know I’m working on prizes for two winners already, but I was planning on maybe a top 3! Top prize is a portrait of your funny corgi, you get the hi-res copy sent to you and the design will be available on shirts and things in the SuperSweetShop (unless you opt out)!
PLEASE spread the word - PayPal screws over families in need at Christmas
Long story short? PayPal is refusing to allow Regretsy.com to send families in need of some Christmas cheer because the “Donate” button was “misused.”
A conversation with a snotty PayPal representative shows that PayPal has an interesting policy on the use of the “Donate” button:
“You can use the donate button to raise money for a sick cat, but not poor people.”
This cheery representative also seems to think April (Regretsy’s founder) is plotting some dastardly scheme or trying to go through a loophole. Just a highlight from the conversation:
PAYPAL: You say you’re selling these as gifts but there is no information as to what the gift is.
APRIL: People sell mystery gifts and grab bags all the time. What about sites where they say, let us choose for you?”
PAYPAL: It doesn’t say that on your site.
APRIL: Is that the problem? If I say it’s a mystery gift would that be sufficient?
PAYPAL: You aren’t going to be able to get around this. It’s too late, we know what you’re trying to do and we’re not going to let you do it.
APRIL: But there are hundreds of toys! Do you think it’s reasonable to create a drop down menu for hundreds of gifts, all of them different, and create an inventory for each as “one?” So that every time one sells, it’s sold out, and the customer has to keep choosng options and going through check out to see if they can find a gift that’s still available?
PAYPAL: Yes, I think it’s reasonable.
After manually refunding donations $2 at a time as requested, PayPal still froze the account, meaning money that was intended to be given to needy families for Christmas is now frozen up, along with income legitmately made through E-book sales.
This is how PayPal treats a loyal customer for over 10 years who is simply trying to reach out help families in need through donations?
Please share your thoughts with these email addresses, and get the word out about PayPal’s policy about donations!
